How to create and edit your Custom Questionnaires in Picsello

Questionnaires help you better understand your client's expectations and proactively reconcile any details around the shoot (such as shoot times, location, etc.) before the shoot takes place. They also force your clients to think about what they want from the shoot, so you can better prepare for their needs. Ultimately, questionnaires reduce miscommunication and demonstrate to your clients that you care about them.


Picsello Default Questionnaires

Your Picsello account comes preloaded with a slew of tried and tested default questionnaires, based on the photography types you selected during onboarding. Default questionnaires can be used as-is, or you can duplicate and modify them for your specific needs.

To view the default questionnaires, log in to Picsello, head to Your Settings, and Click Questionnaires. Please note, that these are labeled as View Only, meaning you can click on the name of a default template to open it, but you can't make any edits.


Modifying an existing default questionnaire

1. Click the Duplicate button for the questionnaire you want to modify.

2. Give your Custom Questionnaire a Name, and select a Type of Photography (Job Type).

Please note that this questionnaire will be tied to the job type that you select so it will not be available for any other job types. If you want to make the questionnaire available for all job types, select 'Global' as a job type.

3. Then scroll down to questions and have fun customizing!

Here you can truly customize your questionnaire as you can:

  • Customize the questions and edit the text

  • Change the question type

  • Check the Optional box to let clients skip a question

  • Click the red trash can icon to delete a question.

  • Use the up/down arrows near the trash can icon to change the order of the questions.

4. To add a new question, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Add Question. When you're all finished, click Save.

Your Custom Questionnaire will now be available for you to use for that job type!


Creating a questionnaire from scratch

If you prefer to create a questionnaire from scratch, click Create Questionnaire in the upper-right corner of the Questionnaires landing page!

1. Give your Custom Questionnaire a Name, and select a Type of Photography (Job Type).

Please note that this questionnaire will be tied to the job type that you select so it will not be available for any other job types. If you want to make the questionnaire available for all job types, select 'Global' as a job type.

3. Then scroll down to questions and start adding questions. You can write the question, choose the type of question it is, and check the Optional box to let clients skip a question! When you're all finished, click Save.

Your Custom Questionnaire will now be available for you to use for that job type!


A pro tip - When adding new questions, take a few minutes to think about a past shoot that could have gone better - or one that went well. What are those questions in advance that could have helped the shoot go well?
