A Guide to Opening Zip Files for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC

When you receive your images they will be in a zipped file as they are big files. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to zip and unzip files on various platforms.

1. How to Open ZIP Files on iOS Devices

On iPhone or iPod touch:

If you're using an iPhone or iPod touch, the process of opening ZIP files is straightforward.

Opening a ZIP file:

  • Navigate to the ZIP file in the Files app.

  • Tap on the ZIP file to open it.

  • A folder containing the files will be created. You can rename the folder if needed.

On iPad:

If you're using an iPad, the process is similar to that of an iPhone or iPod touch.
​Opening a ZIP file:

  • Find the ZIP file in the Files app.

  • Tap on the ZIP file to open it, and a folder with the files will be created.


2. How to Open ZIP Files on Android Devices

If you're an Android user, you can easily unzip files using the Files by Google app.

  • Open Files by Google on your Android device.

  • Navigate to the folder containing the .zip file.

  • Select the .zip file.

  • Tap Extract, and a preview of the extracted files will appear.

  • Optionally, select "Delete ZIP file" if you want to remove the original .zip file after extraction.

  • Tap Done, and the extracted files will be saved in the same folder.


3. How to Open ZIP Files on Mac

To unzip a file on your Mac, simply double-click the .zip file. The unzipped items will appear in the same folder, and you can delete the .zip file if desired.


4. How to Open ZIP Files on PC (Windows 11/10)

  • Open File Explorer and locate the compressed folder.

  • To unzip the entire folder, right-click and select Extract All.

  • Alternatively, double-click the compressed folder and drag or copy the items to a new location.
