How to Write An Enticing Description For Your Booking Event

Do you find yourself staring at a blinking cursor not knowing what to write to describe your sessions? Well, you are not alone!

As a photographer, your ability to connect with clients and convey the value of your portrait sessions can significantly impact your business. Writing captivating descriptions and well-structured packages for your portrait sessions is essential to attracting potential clients and showcasing your expertise.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create enticing descriptions and packages that stand out:

Craft an Attention-Grabbing Title

Your session title should be concise and compelling. It should give potential clients a clear idea of what to expect. For example, "Family Portraits at Laguna Beach" or "Elegant Maternity Photography" or "Limited Edition Personality Portraits".

Describe the Session Experience

In a few sentences, describe the overall experience clients can expect during the session. Mention the location, (duration if necessary), and any unique features like props, styling, etc. Create a vivid picture of what the session will be like.

Highlight Key Benefits

Emphasize the benefits of booking this type of session with you. Mention factors like limited edition, popular, and books up fast.

Describe What Is Included

Here is an opportunity to truly emphasize what is involved with a shoot with you. List what's included in the portrait session package. This may include:

  • Creative Session Fee

  • Cosmetic Editing

  • Online Gallery

  • X high-res digital images

  • $X Print Credit

  • Option to purchase additional digital images

  • Access to my professional print lab to order professional prints, albums, greeting cards, and frames.

Set Clear Pricing

Be transparent about the cost of the portrait session. If you need guidance on calculating profitable prices, please visit the Smart Profit Calculator in app!

Use a High-Quality Image

It is important to use an image so that your potential clients can visualize the end result of their purchase. For portraits, it is vital to include people in your example image, this helps your clients 'picture' themselves in the shot. It is also extremely important that you use an image you took otherwise you can get into trouble with copyright and talent infringement. For more information, I wrote an article that outlines this in a little more detail.

For best results, please make sure your image is sized 1060x650.

The uploader supports JPEG/PNG under 10MB in size.

Putting it all together

Market Your Sessions

Now your event is live, it's time to market these sessions. Remember, it takes a lot of work to build up a consistent client base but there are lots of ways to market your sessions. These include (but aren't limited to):

  • Send to your email list

  • Write a blog post on your website

  • Post to Google Business Profile and Create Events there

  • Submit to local event blogs

  • Post to your Social Media accounts (Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram) - remember only 4% of your audience sees a post on social media so post more than once

  • Post to local FB groups (if allowed)

  • Partner with local businesses to promote

  • Ask friends and family to share

  • Paid advertising (google / facebook ads)

Your Messaging

Creating a sense of scarcity and urgency is an extremely effective way to get clients to book immediately.

  • Send to your VIPs first (even if you don't have VIPs make all of your existing clients or even friends/family members your VIPs!). Call them your VIPs and that they get first dibs on these spots so book soon before you release them to the public

  • Frame your marketing with a “these sessions sold out in 24 hours last time —book now” message

  • Share that you have only X amount of slots available “limited spots left”

  • Only offer one day at first, if you sell out of one day then open up to another day.

Your goal is to get immediate clients, so you need to explain why clients want to book today, not a few weeks from now!

Can't wait to see you sell out these sessions! Remember you can always post in our Facebook group for feedback and advice!
